FUNAE in the Bureau Round on World Energy Day

Under the representative of the Director of the Electrification Division, Arcádia Nhantumbo, FUNAE recently participated (29/05/26) in the Bureau Round subject to theme "Challenges for the Reach of the Universal Access to Energy Goal by 2030", held in the context of World Energy Day celebrations, event promoted by EDM.

In his speech, Nhantumbo pointed out the dispersion of communities as one of the main obstacles to efforts to ensure access to electricity in rural areas of the country, where most of the Mozambican population resides.

According to the responsible, the current geographical provision of communities in areas outside the network not only hinders the expansion of access to energy, but also requires high investments in the implementation of appropriate infrastructure.

Arcádia Nhantumbo also stressed the need for integrated planning of energy solutions by combining systems within and outside the national power grid and strengthening coordination with cooperation partners.

The rate of access to energy in Mozambique is currently around 65%, with the country reaching the goal of universal access by 2030.
